
Sax Max Hawaii

Sax Max Hawaii is an exhilarating jazz, R&B, blues and soul group that includes Hawaii’s foremost and world-class saxophone musicians: Jesse Snyder (baritone and tenor sax), Jason Gay (alto and soprano sax)and Larry Cook (tenor sax) and a Rhythm section that includes the likes of: Michael Grande, Darryl Pelligrini and Dean Taba. Sax players and Rhythm section may interchange players.

Jesse Snyder
Jesse plays tenor, alto and baritone saxophones, clarinet, flute, drums/percussion and has a smooth baritone voice. He received a 2018 Hoku Award (Hawaiian Grammy) for Jazz Album of the Year as the primary horn arranger for the Hawaiian swing band, Kahulanui.
He came to Hawaii in 2009 and quickly gained a presence with a number of local jazz, R&B, reggae and neo-soul bands. Currently the most versatile musician on Hawaii island, he performs regularly at Manta Wine Bar. He tours with Kahulanui and other bands, enjoys studio sessions, doing horn arrangements for different groups of varying genres (Red Water Trio, Castaways, Gary Washburn Duo, Blended Rootz, Bump City, Jesse Snyder Quartet) and is currently working on a solo album.
Jason Gay
Jason began performing at 16 touring the east coast with the dramatic, musical group "Uprising". He pursued a performance degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston and Virginia Commonwealth University. He has performed with Ravi Coltrane, Nate Smith, Jeremy Pelt, Marion Meadows, Michael Paulo, Renè Marie, Guitar Shorty, Tea Leaf Green and many others.
He enlisted in the Navy band to serve America and do what he loves. After being stationed in Hawaii, he left the military to pursue a career as a full-time musician specializing in jazz and R&B.
Larry Cook
Larry is an active performer and session musician on the Honolulu music scene. He has played with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Pops, H.O.T. and the Matt Catingub Orchestra. He has also appeared with such luminaries as Johnny Mathis, Gladys Night, Natalie Cole and Vanessa Williams to name a few. Larry is the recipient of 3 Hoku awards and performs regularly with The Mana’o Company, Sean Na’auao, Micah G and at the Blue Note with local jazz and R & B artists.
He originally came to Hawaii with LA band “Jeff Burton and the Corvettes”, and performed at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki.
